Barcelo Punta Umbria Beach Resort
I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights recent and found it to be a good value hotel.
The hotel complex itself is very large, during my holiday I was in room 3145 which was a very nice and very large room so loved it.
The swimming pool was of a great size and during my stay the pool was very quiet so plenty of space to go for a swim.
The transfer to the hotel took 2 hours from Faro Airport just to warn you.
I could not fault the staff in the hotel all very friend, although do think some need to learn more English at times could be difficult to order and drink and for them to know what you wanted.
The drink int he hotel was of a great choice, however as other reviews do state I did find at times waiting for a short while to get a drink in the bar (mainly the Lobby Bar was always very busy)
The Swimming Pool has also got a self service bar which is a great idea and you ‘skip’ the queue going into there!
As other reviews do suggest the hotel, is mainly for the Spanish holiday makers, and not so much for us British people, but you will still have a good time during your holiday.
In regards to the entertainment at the hotel, the day time entertainment for adults is good, with a good choice such as table tennis, basketball, football, aqua gym, water polo and so much more and the they do their best with speaking english which is good or at least for day time entertainment…
In regards tot he evening entertainment for 3 of my 4 nights I found this to be a major disappointment, these nights it was only Spanish singers they had for the evening who only sung in Spanish, not so good for us one evening the hotel did have their own entertainment on which was a Game Night which was very funny to watch but again the language barrier did cause a slight problem.
Now for the food, not sure what I can say about the food there was a different choice most nights at the hotel which was good, however each night some of the food which should bed hot was cold (the chips are very bad for this!) The best thing of the food at the hotel was the deserts each evening as they were of a great choice and very very yummy, shame about the rest of the food!
The hotel advertises as having A La Cart Restaurants however during my holiday non of these were open which was a major disappointment and they seem to of forgot that British were staying at the hotel and were caring much more about the Spanish.
Overall, the hotel was very nice and a lovely hotel however, feel that it is much more for the Spanish rather then the British so for that reason I feel it is just average.
