So, we have already come to the end of January and it sure was a difficult one for me but also have some great memories I was able to make despite this.
Work-wise, I was placed, on furlough the week before Christmas and currently remain to be on furlough, which has been difficult.
When you look at it, it’s actually very nice to have face-to-face contact with people, something I did not get to do much of during January but some more about that below!
In January as well, here in England, we entered our ‘3rd’ National Lockdown which made being on furlough more difficult since there was not much at all that could be done.
On the 5th January, I attended training for 2 hours to be a Patient Advocate as part of the Vaccination Programme in England, at the moment, I am waiting for a mass centre to open to allow me to put the skills to use.
On the 8th January, I then put training I have had to St John Ambulance to use by volunteering and assisting at my local ED Department, this was a great experience working from 8am until 4pm providing any assistance I was capable of doing to help out the staff on the ward.
The following week on the 18th and 19th, 23rd and 24th and also the 30th and 31st, I helped support our ‘Hypercentre’ training venue for volunteers getting trained on the vaccination programme which included setting up the training rooms as a COVID Secure environment, ensuring that training resources were ready for the training and much more. This was a very enjoyable and good way to spend the weekend helping out with something so essential and what will be part of history.
Being able to do all of this (which was essential) helped me a lot during the month with being on lockdown and on furlough.
I also spent a day at the vaccination centre on the 26th as a Patient Advocate which was a great experience and I look forward to being able to do more duties in the months to come! In addition, I have also now had my first dose of the vaccine due to the contact I am having with people.
Sadly, I did lose my job at the end of January so now on the hunt for a new job
